We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Yarn Raise, a brand new section of the Yarn website dedicated to supporting Indigenous and ally-friendly non-for-profits and community organisations. Yarn Raise gives organisations the opportunity to sell their merchandise through Yarn, with 100% of the profits going directly back to them. We are so excited to have the opportunity to support Indigenous and ally-friendly community groups by sharing our platform and connecting them with you, our wonderful customers!
Our community partners, the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) are the first to join Yarn Raise. Soon, we will have other organisations joining Yarn Raise, such as Bridging the Gap and Great Barrier Reef Legacy. Through Yarn Raise, the Great Barrier Reef Legacy will be releasing a special collection to raise money for their project: the Living Coral Biobank. We will also be launching a collection of our own products, with 100% of the profits going directly to our community partners Nutrition Plus, Gunawirra, Surat Aboriginal Corporation and ALNF.
The Benefits of Yarn Raise
The assistance Yarn offers Indigenous and ally-friendly non-for-profits through Yarn Raise goes far beyond just the return of profits. At Yarn, we take care of all of the time-consuming behind the scenes stuff and the financial risk involved in selling and producing merchandise so that they can focus on what’s really important: supporting Indigenous and ally-friendly communities.
Yarn takes care of all the processing of orders, involving the provision of shipping systems and space in our warehouse. We even go as far as to provide marketing resources and our audience of over 150k social media followers so that organisations can gain as much exposure and reach as possible.
To simplify the process even further, Yarn Raise provides in-house print-on-demand services so that organisations can cut costs by printing products directly with us. As such there are no upfront costs or financial risks on the part of non-for-profits. Yarn Raise provides a more streamlined, environmentally conscious and financially sustainable way of producing, marketing and selling merchandise.
Get to know ALNF
The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation works closely with families, communities and schools to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of Indigenous children. They provide important resources to communities through their Literacy Packs, and they run a number of programs such as Share-A-Book, Early Language and Literacy, Indigenous First Language, Subtext: Art For Literacy and the Storykids program. ALNF strongly believes that ‘Literacy is Freedom’ as literacy allows individuals to access education, participate meaningfully in our society and to have a voice. ‘Literacy is Freedom’ has become their motto and is featured on ALNF’s gorgeous range of merchandise. This range includes tees, tote bags, keep cups and more - all available on Yarn Raise.
