The 2025 NAIDOC theme has been announced - and we couldn't be more excited about the significance behind this powerful statement!

The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy

The National NAIDOC Committee shared this statement alongside the announcement:

"This year’s theme celebrates the achievements of the past and the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors."

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC week. This incredible milestone speaks volumes about the accomplishments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This theme puts a spotlight on the generations to come, projecting a powerful future ahead. We’re celebrating future leaders, communities, achievements, and the ancient knowledge that makes them strong. This year it's all about showing support for the people who will preserve and empower future generations to come.

What is NAIDOC Week?

NAIDOC week started as a movement calling for the recognition and rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Since then, it has become a national celebration of First Nations strength, resilience, and Cultural pride. NAIDOC encourages people to learn more about the oldest, continuous living Cultures in the world and to preserve and recognise the history, Culture, and achievements of Indigenous peoples in Australia.

This annual celebration falls on the first week of July. Events and activities are held across Australia with anyone, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, welcome to take part.

The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy

There's never been at a better time to celebrate the next generation. Building on last year's NAIDOC theme "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud" this year is about celebrating the future generations that are going to carry First Nations Culture, become the leaders and Elders, and teach their next generation about what it means to be proud of who you are and where you come from.
