Easing into the New Year

As we watch the New Years sunrise, we contemplate an intense 2020 and feel excitement for the coming year, a fresh start. It's important that we all ease into 2021 in a gentle way. So much pressure is put on the New Year, the need to make big resolutions and goals that will change our lives. While there’s nothing wrong with making goals, many of us can end up getting overwhelmed by them and focus too much on getting things ‘right’ rather than enjoying life. Particularly after a long stressful year, let's not put more pressure on ourselves. A more calming way of moving into the year is to simply create some priorities, things that fulfil your needs and make you happy. Create priorities that can help you shape a joyful year.
Here’s some ways that you gently begin the New Year.
Make Space - This can be physically and metaphorically. Creating physical space within your home by lightening your material load can be a great way to start the year with a clear mind. Making space also refers to making space in your life for the things you enjoy doing the most, these could be big or small. Whether it’s doing more fun activities with friends or simply taking a relaxing bath more often, make space for the things that make you feel good.
Reflect on 2020 - After an intense year emotionally and physically many of us want to forget 2020. Yet reflection is an important part of letting go and moving forward with a clear mind. Try simply writing down your stream of consciousness for 15minutes. Don’t worry about creating nice sentences just let your thoughts flow freely. Writing can be an excellent way of processing emotions.

Record your priorities for 2021 - These aren’t strict resolutions that you have to stick to. Instead this can become a reminder of the things that matter to you the most. If at some stage during the year you are feeling burnout, you can return to these priorities and use them as a way to refresh your energy.
We hope this can help everyone gently start 2021 with a clear mind. Happy New Year wonderful people!
