One of our most highly anticipated releases this year is our new Forever Homes Dog Collection. As well as decorating our beloved doggos with stunning First Nations artwork, they’re also supporting a good cause.

With 5 different designs of harnesses, collars, leashes and accessories, $2 from every product sold is donated to our community partner, Animal Welfare League Queensland. These products are proudly printed with best-selling artworks, and of course, also pay royalties to the artist with each purchase.

Who are AWLQ?

Animal Welfare League Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation that supports companion animals in the community. They shelter, rehome, and reunite over 11,000 animals per year in protective and loving spaces with top-class veterinary care.

They're working to achieve their vision of Getting to Zero: to prevent the needless euthanasia of animals in pounds, shelters, and vet clinics through education and community support.

Essentially, they are committed to love - and that’s why we love them too!
“AWLQ believes that all animals have inherent value, regardless of their usefulness to humans. All companion animals should have quality of life based on their needs. We should strive to accommodate these needs and to recognise that these needs may be different from human needs.” - AWLQ
Supporting any animal shelter is supporting AWLQ’s vision. If you’re looking for animal shelters in Brisbane and the surrounding area, they have 5 locations you can drop into at the Gold Coast, Beenleigh, Willawong, Warra and Ipswich.

For those Yarn Fam outside of Queensland, there are thousands of shelters nationally who are doing similar work supporting animals. Choosing to adopt a pet saves a life and provides a loving home to those who need it most.

Adopting a Pet

Adopting a pet is the best way to support AWLQ's mission. So many animals are looking to be rehomed. As well as dogs, they also have cats and a whole host of other companion animals ready for a forever home.

If you’re considering getting a pet, pop into AWLQ or any other local animal shelter to meet the animals up to adoption. The staff can help you find your perfect match.

AWLQ’s small dog pet rescue is extremely popular - but they also encourage people to look at bigger dogs! Bigger dogs take more time to get adopted and as they like to say: “the bigger the better.”

How Else Can You Support AWLQ?

Can’t adopt? Consider fostering!

Dogs are important in our Culture - and other animals too. Temporarily housing reduces pressure on the shelters and offers love and attention for the deserving babies. You can also help by donating or shopping at op shops, volunteering, or joining fundraisers - such as ours!
