Honouring Our Fallen Warriors
My artwork is a tribute to all Australian and New Zealand warriors who have served and sacrificed in conflict.
This design represents the resilience, strength, and deep cultural connections of those who have fought for Country, both in traditional times and in modern warfare.
At the heart of the artwork is a meeting place, symbolising the unity of all who have gathered to remember and honour those who served. This sacred space is surrounded by traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander symbols and the silver fern of New Zealand. Māori have long used the silver fern as a guide in the bush and on battlefields, as its silver underside reflects moonlight, helping warriors and travellers find their way.
Woven through the design are poppies, a universal symbol of remembrance, acknowledging the sacrifices of our warriors and their enduring spirit. In Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, red represents the land and the blood shed by our people, while yellow reflects the sun, bringing warmth, healing, and hope for the future. These colours remind us of our connection to Country and the duty to honour those who walked before us.
“Honouring Our Fallen Warriors” is a visual reminder that the stories and sacrifices of ANZACs will never be forgotten, we will remember them with a sense of appreciation and carry their legacy forward with strength and unity.
