Naqqashi, the art of hand painting, is regarded as a highly-skilled profession in the Kashmiri regions. The intricate paintings are done on paper mache boxes that are made out of recycled paper. Combined with the manufacturing of handmade paper mache, this industry makes for a low carbon footprint industry that helps sustain families economically and culturally in villages of India.

Boxes come in compact sizes to more generously sized varieties and feature designs of a variety of colours on them. Each design by First Nations artists tell stories about wildlife, landscapes and other aspects that are of Indigenous culture.
