What products should everyone have as a part of their skin care routine?

“The definite necessities are a cleanser and a moisturiser, they’re the basis for a good skin care routine.”

In recent times we’ve all been having to wear face masks, and this often causes problematic skin. What are some of your tips for preventing some of these skin problems?

“One big tip is to avoid wearing makeup when you can. Anything on your skin can easily become trapped underneath a face mask, so we recommend going makeup free and instead applying moisturiser before putting your mask on. Another tip is to wash your face mask every night – you don’t want extra bacteria building up on the material that you then put on your face. I would also suggest adding our clay mask into your routine if you don’t already – it cleans deep under the surface to clear congestion, so it will act as an extra barrier against ‘maskne.’”

What type of cleanser should I use?

“It really depends on your skin type; however, our Everyday Cleanser is a really simple and nourishing formula that caters to all skin types. It uses the key ingredient ylang ylang, a native flower that has been used by Indigenous Australians for centuries. The compounds in this flower work to regulate your skin's oil production, bringing it back to the optimal level. This means it perfectly caters to those with dry, oily or combination skin, all equally.”

Why is it important to moisturize and how often should I moisturise?

“Moisturising protects your skin’s barrier and (obviously) helps minimise dryness. We recommend moisturising twice daily, after you cleanse.”

How often should I use a mask?

“Our green clay mask is designed to be used 1 to 3 times a week. Use less if you have sensitive skin, more if you have acne prone skin or a lot of scarring or hyperpigmentation.”

What can I do to brighten my skin?

“Vitamin C is key for brightening your skin, so look for ingredients such as kakadu plum, quandong, and citrus fruits. Our quandong toning mist is perfect for skin brightening!”

Are natural products better for your skin?

“I definitely think so! Lowanna products are all formulated with the belief that we as consumers should know exactly what’s in our beauty products. The ingredients we use have a long history of traditional use in Aboriginal culture for good reason. Plants are powerful and we believe that what nature provides us with is all we need. That’s why our products contain absolutely no artificial ingredients.”

Why are the native ingredients that you incorporate into Lowanna’s products so amazing for the skin?

“Our products are formulated carefully, and we choose only the best ingredients. We’ve chosen plants that have scientific evidence of healing properties. These include quandong, lemon myrtle, lemon aspen, desert lime, and nature's highest source of vitamin C, kakadu plum.”
